AVATT Inc. provides solutions to our client’s transformer requirements through quality workmanship completed in a timely and cost effective manner. This is accomplished by providing properly trained personnel and using the correct equipment to complete the tasks at hand.

This is supported by a strong management team and a solid HSE program.

AVATT Inc. follows the latest standards set out by IEEE, ANSI, NETA and manufactures suggested procedures. 

Company Bio

AVATT Inc. was incorporated in 2006 to provide specialized services in transformer installation, maintenance and oil purification.

We are COR Certified, CQN, ISN, Avetta, and Complyworks approved. We are also WCB regerstired for inter-provincial work, and have a Federal Carrier Status for our heavy load transport with in Alberta and other provinces.

AVATT Inc’s team integrates both shop and field experienced personnel. The key members are:


Ken Black C.E.T. – Ken is a Journeyman Power System Electrician and a Certified Engineering Technologist (ASET).  He graduated from NAIT in 1988 with a Telecommunications degree and began his utility career with TransAlta.  He moved into the power system component in 1991 as a Protection and Control technologist, where he progressively took on more challenges.   His career path took him through to the construction side of the utility and to that of a Substation Crew Work leader with AltaLink.  Prior to joining AVATT, Ken was a Substation Construction Superintendent with Kinetic Projects.  Ken’s twenty years of experience has provided him with a solid knowledge for the maintenance, assembly and repair of high voltage equipment. 


Mark Sinasac - Mark started his transformer career in 1997 at PowerTran Company Ltd. (ABB) of Edmonton, Alberta. There he was directly involved with winding, assembly of core and coils, final tanking, fabrication, vacuum and oil processing. He was also involved with the high voltage testing department which equipment included a 300KV AC High Pot and a 1200KV Impulse tester. Mark also supervised field installations and maintenance projects of transformers. This including field overhauls, internal inspections and leak repair along with oil reconditioning.
